FAQ

It is required that all clients must be 18+ years of age.

  • What is microblading?

Microblading is the process of implementing realistic hair-like strokes by depositing ink into the first layer of the skin with a manual hand held microblade and giving the appearance of fuller, beautiful brows!

Microblading is meant to be a natural enhancement. It does NOT take the place of makeup. It looks most natural on clients who already have semi full brow hair, and are wanting to perfect their shape. The more hair you have, the more natural it will appear.

Microblading is considered a tattoo and permanent makeup however, it does fade over time and touch-ups are suggested to keep them looking full and fresh.

  • How long does microblading last?

Though microblading is meant and designed to fade over time, there are some factors that have an affect on your retention such as: skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, etc that can all contribute to the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo.

The sun/UV rays have a great affect on your pigment and can break down the color so be sure to protect and be mindful of your cosmetic tattoo. Follow your after care, touch up your brows as needed within 8-12 months (longer than a year is okay everyone is different). Fading is normal and touch ups are expected during your cosmetic tattoo journey.

*Please note that final results vary and CANNOT be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A follow-up appointment is strongly recommended at 6-8 weeks where we can assess your pigment retention and make any changes necessary.

  • Is the procedure of microblading painful?

Most clients report little to no pain throughout their procedure. While pain tolerance varies between clients, a topical 5% Lidocaine is used throughout the procedure to make you comfortable.

Once the skin is opened up with the microblade, a secondary numbing is applied to ensure comfort and to reduce bleeding.

*Having the procedure during your menstrual cycle may increase your sensitivity.

  • How long will my appointment take?

For your initial appointment it will take about 2-3 hours—this includes a consult before if you have any questions, mapping our your new brows, numbing the area and the microblading procedure itself.

Touchups range from 1.5-2 hours sometimes up to 3, this varies per each client.

  • Do I need the touch-up appointment?

Yes! All Permanent Cosmetic procedures require 2 sessions. It is a 2 part process especially if we are building your brows! During your 6-8 week follow-up we can assess your pigment retention and make any adjustments needed. This follow-up also increases the longevity of your microblading.

  • How should I prepare for my appointment?

Proper before care should be the following:

-No alcohol 24 hours before your appointment.

-Do not workout the day of your appointment.

-Do not drink coffee/caffeine the day of your appointment. Afterwards is ayyokay!

-Do not tan for one week prior of the procedure.

-Discontinue the use of fish oils or any blood thinners (i.e., aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, ibuprofen) 7 days before your appointment.

-You must not use Retin-A near the brow area 2 weeks before or after the procedure.

-Any waxing or tinting should be done 3 days prior to your appointment.

-No laser or chemical peels 2 weeks prior to the appointment.

  • What factors will affect my cosmetic tattoo?

-Oily Skin: Increased oil production can cause hair strokes to blur and heal lighter and powdery.

-Smoking: Smokers may notice that their Semi-Permanent Cosmetics will fade faster.

-Anemia and iron deficiency: Your body will absorb these iron based pigments more quickly.

-Sun exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading. You will want to use a special sunscreen for your Semi-Permanent Cosmetics; I recommend Color Guard. You can find it on Amazon.

-Age and metabolism. The faster your metabolism, the faster the pigment will fade.

-Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during your procedure will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow before care instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood thinning medications, alcohol, and caffeine 24 hours before your procedure.

  • What can I expect immediately after my appointment?

Directly after your procedure you may experience minor redness or swelling in the area which typically goes away within 24 hours.

Within the following hours, the pigment in the skin will darken, making the brows look more bold than they were initially. This is normal! The ink will look dark and warm the first few days as it oxidizes in the skin, and will go back to normal. You can expect the brows to heal 20% lighter than they were immediately after your appointment.

Around day 3-4, you may notice light scabbing and flaking on the treated area. This is normal! Please refrain from picking at the brows. Doing so will result in loss of pigment in those areas. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished healing. Once all the flaking is complete (typically around day 10), the brows will appear lighter. The skin will normalize over the next 4-6 weeks and the pigment will return to the skin in it’s healed color.

At 4-6 weeks, your brows will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your touch up appointment. At this appointment, we will asses your retention, touch up the spots that didn’t stick, and can adjust the pigment color to go darker if wanted and add more dimension to give you beautiful brows!

  • What is the after care?

I go over after care when the appointment is finished and you will receive an after care kit along with a detailed take home card stock with instructions how to take care of your beautiful new brows!

    After Care Instructions

  • I had my brows done by another artist, can you fix/touch them up?

If you have previous PMU (permanent makeup) done, it is required that you consult with your artist before booking an appointment. You will be asked to send a few CLEAR photos in natural lighting of your eyebrows before approval to book an appointment.

Ideally, your cosmetic tattoo should be faded up to 80-90% for your artist to work on.
